Ashley Petefish’s practice is focused on representing and counseling employers in issues related to employment and labor law. Ashley counsels and represents employers in wage and hour disputes, as well as discrimination and retaliation claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Title VII.
Ashley also provides guidance to employers on human resource issues including employee handbooks, arbitration agreements, electronic signature compliance, and leave policies. Additionally, Ashley has worked in-house with both the legal department and human resources department for a national restaurant chain.
During her time in-house, Ashley regularly provided day-to-day employment and human resources advice, and gained a deep understanding of how to best serve a client’s needs. Prior to joining FordHarrison, Ashley worked in restaurants and restaurant management for six years. During law school Ashley served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Mary S.
Scriven, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. Ashley also served as an intern in the Appellate Division of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in the Saint Petersburg courthouse with the Honorable Amy Williams, where her responsibilities included reviewing records and briefs, drafting orders, and attending appellate panel meetings.
Also while in law school, Ashley was involved in numerous organizations, serving as President of both the Labor and Employment Law Association (LELA) and the Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) law fraternity. She was also an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) board member. While on the ADR board Ashley was a National Finalist at the American Bar Association Arbitration Competition Finals.
