She continued her swimming career at the University of Alabama, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, with a minor in Computer Science in 1982.
While attending University of Alabama, her high grades warranted her acceptance into Beta Alpha Psi, the National Accounting Honorary. Cheryl worked in the Finance Department with Martin Marietta prior to entering law school. Immediately before her acceptance into South Texas College of Law, in Houston, Texas, in January 1984, she took and passed portions of the CPA Exam.
However, Cheryl chose to pursue her law degree at South Texas Law School. In May 1987, Cheryl received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence. In October 1987, Cheryl was sworn in to practice law by the Supreme Court of the State of Florida. Cheryl’s academic achievements in law included being named on the Dean’s List many times and achieving two “Top of the Class” grade awards by the course book publisher, known as the “American Jurisprudence Book Award” for Contracts II and Taxation of Business Organizations classes.
While attending law school, Cheryl worked for Seidman and Seidman Accounting, The Internal Revenue Service Appeals Office, Shell Oil Tax Department, and several private practice Law Firms. In addition to her studies and work load, Cheri maintained a vigorous athletic schedule by training for and competing in two United States Bud Light National Triathlon events.
In September 1989, Cheryl honed her trial and litigation experience as an Assistant State Attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit, Brevard County, Florida, until September 1992. As a prosecutor, Cheryl handled juvenile dependency and juvenile delinquency proceedings, misdemeanor cases (traffic infractions, DUI, and other misdemeanor crimes, including Violation of Injunctions) and gained invaluable trial litigation experience.
In September 1992, Cheryl established a private practice, then Cheryl L. Denaburg, P.A., focusing on family law. For 18 years, Cheryl has offered her unique blend of top notch litigation skills and accounting experience to her clients as she helps them through troubles times. As a partner in Abraham & Abraham, P.

Over the past 25 years in private practice, Cheryl has handled over 1200 family law proceedings, varying in facts from the simplest of finances to the large complicated financial situations involving corporations; agreed upon cases involving time sharing (previously known as “custody” of a minor child) to hotly contested “sole custody, no visitation or contact, drug and or alcohol screening” cases.
Cheryl’s natural competitive nature combined with her financial and accounting degrees and experience and her desire to assist clients in difficult and troubled times, affords a client legal representation to address and meet their many needs. Cheryl is able to help clients move forward in life through troubled family situations.
