My name is Dan Ripley and I am an experienced and aggressive trial attorney. Since my admission to the Florida bar in 2009, I have done only one thing; represent the people of the state of Florida. In that time I have taken over 40 jury trials to verdict. These cases range from simple traffic cases to life felonies.
I have argued and won numerous Motions to Suppress, Motions to Dismiss and Judgments of Acquittal. I have been recognized for excellence by my co-workers and supervisors. Through the years, I have built personal relationships with numerous Judges and Prosecutors which helps me to aggressively and quickly negotiate for reduced charges and departure sentences.
I have made connections with many Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities in and around the Tampa Bay Area allowing my clients to get rehabilitation in lieu of incarceration. I pride myself on always being available to my clients; quickly responding to phone calls and spending considerable time explaining issues, reviewing evidence, and developing defense strategies with clients and their families.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in history before going to Florida State where I received my Juris Doctorate. Following graduation, I accepted a position as a public defender in West Palm Beach and then in St. Petersburg. Working for the poor, addicted, and disenfranchised was the proudest time in my career.
A time when I learned about what it means to fight for the little guy and how easy it is for the criminal justice system to step on the rights of the citizens it is meant to protect. During my time with these offices, I worked in every part of the system from appeals, to misdemeanors and domestic cases, through juvenile court and up to the most serious felony crimes.
I worked extremely hard to learn as much as I could about the law, the science and the strategies to aggressively defend my clients. In 2015, I decided that it was time to leave the Public Defender’s Office and begin a private practice to serve a wider range of people and pursue the cases where I felt I could have the greatest impact.
I expanded my practice to family law where I have handled divores, custody issues, support issues, and domestic injunction. This year I was named one of the 10 best Family Law Attorneys in Florida.
