About David Christopher Banker

I began practicing law in 1981, concentrating on personal injury, medical negligence, and products liability litigation.  I became a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer in 1991.  A substantial portion of my products liability practice has included automotive and products liability defense.  A substantial portion of my medical negligence practice has included defense of medical residents and faculty members.

  In the last five years, I have focused my practice primarily on commercial litigation cases typically involving breach of contract, misrepresentation, and/or fraud. From 2007 through 2012, I served as the Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Inn of Court, a voluntary organization of local judges and lawyers committed to promoting professionalism and excellence in the practice of law in the Tampa Bay area.

I have been elected to Best Lawyers in America, Legal Elite, and Super Lawyers every year since 2007.  I am a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates whose mission is to preserve the right to jury trial.  I am a mentor for the Hillsborough Education Foundation's "Take Stock in Children" program, which offers college scholarships to at-risk students, and a Director for The Florida Orchestra.

Best Lawyers in America selected me as Lawyer of the Year for Personal Injury Defense in Tampa for 2015. I have lectured on Florida tort reform, medical negligence reform, and evidence, and I have written concerning Florida products liability law.  I have appeared on ESPN's nationally-televised "Outside the Lines" program as counsel for the NFL to discuss the constitutionality of the League's pat-down search policy at NFL stadiums.
