About David Frank Pleasanton

David Pleasanton was admitted to practice law in the State of Florida on September 25, 1981. Since that time Mr Pleasanton has been admitted to the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida; the Trial Bar of the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida; the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida; the U.

S. Circuit Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit; the U. S. Supreme Court; the Naval- Marine Corps Court of Military Review; and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals. Mr Pleasanton was elected to serve as a town council member for the Town of Lake Clarke Shores, Florida and was appointed to the Town of Lake Clarke Shores Code Enforcement Board.

Mr Pleasanton served in the U.S. Naval Reserve, in the Judge Advocate General Corps,and reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for designing and implementing a prosecution platform to enforce the Navy's Zero Drug Tolerance Program. Mr Pleasanton served as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida's Fifteenth Judicial Circuit(Palm Beach County).

He was Chief of the Drug Enforcement Unit and was responsible for the prosecution of major drug dealers, including the drafting and application of  all search warrants and wiretaps. As a prosecutor Mr Pleasanton prosecuted cases such as 1st Degree Homicide, Drug Traficking, Car Jackings, Home Invasion, Robberies, Burglaries,  etc.

Mr Pleasanton has been in the private practice of law since 1989 and concentrates in the areas of criminal defense(state and federal), probate, family law, and general civil litigation. Mr Pleasanton currently, or in the past, has represented the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 50(Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office); Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association(PBA); Florida PBA; Treasure Coast PBA; the Florida Association of State Troopers(F.

A.S.T.); and the American Legion Department of Florida. Mr Pleasanton received degrees from Palm Beach Junior College(A.S.-Law Enforcement), Florida State University School of Criminology(B.S.- Criminology), and the Florida State College of Law(Juris Doctoate). Mr Pleasanton excelled in academics and was on the Dean's List, President's List, graduated from law school with honors, and was a member of the honor fraternity Phi Theta Kappa.

Mr Pleasanton has taught Use of Force, Civil Rights, and Arrest, Search, and Seizure at the Palm Beach County Police Academy. He was also a member of the American Prosecutor's Research Institute which is the research and teach affiliate of the National District Attorney's Association. While a member of this orginization Mr Pleasanton helped to design teaching curriculum for use throughout the United States and also helped to draft the "forfeiture provisions" of the Modal Penal Code.

Mr Pleasanton has been very involved in the American Legion and has served as the Commander of local post, the Judge Advocate for the American Legion Department of Florida, and on several national committees.
