I made the decision to become an attorney after prevailing as the prosecuting attorney for the "Goldilocks Trial" in Mr Tom Haight's Business Law Class at Seminol High School in 1988. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida in three years in 1992 and my Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in December of 1994.
I was the very first lawyer in my family, male or female, in a family tree that dates back to the Mayflower. My first job as a lawyer was at the firm I now manage - then called the Law Office of Sharon P. Jorgensen, P.A. I became a partner in the firm at the age of 32 in 2002. I worked hard and passed a very difficult exam to become a Board Certified Specialist in Workers Compensation in 2002.
My certification was renewed in 2008 and again in 2012. I have been certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a Circuit Civil Mediator since 2002. I am proud to say that my first jury trial in a personal injury case resulted in a $2.4 million dollar verdict for my client. I have not lost a workers compensation trial since 2008 and I have never lost a claim for Permanent Total Disability benefits.
I am a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum as I have won several muli-million dollar verdicts/ settlements for my clients. Since the day I started practicing in workers compensation, personal injury and Social Security Disability, I have never represented an insurance company. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and relocated with my family to Florida when I was in high school.
I have been happily married to my husband, Shannon, for 29 years and we raised our four children, Katie, Reilly, and twins Delanie and Dillan in the St. Petersburg, FL area. My hobbies include fishing, boating, snorkeling, scalloping, cooking, snuggling my golden retrievers and watching my son, Dillan, play college football for the Florida State Seminoles.
My daughter, Katie, has followed in my footsteps - earning her B.A. degree from U.S.F. in two years and Juris Doctor from Stetson. She has been working as an associate attorney for my firm for over 3 years. My son, Reilly, played college football and attended Stanford University and U.S.F, earned his B.
A. from U.S.F. in just 3 years and graduating with his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2020. He worked in Civil Litigation for Trenam Law then decided to bring his talents to the family firm in 2022. My daughter, Delanie, graduated with her A.A. from St. Petersburg College in the Early College program at the same time as she graduated high school, went on to earn her B.
A. from U.S.F.S.P. in just two years and is presently in her third year of law school at Stetson. She intends to work for the family firm after her graduation. Dillan, the youngest of my twins, played football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for four years, earned his B.S. in Management and Consulting from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame in 2021, then transferred to play his last two remaining years of eligibility for the Florida State Seminoles while earning his M.
B.A. He's the Seminoles' starting left guard - #75. He started a non-profit called Big Man Big Heart which is carrying out his mission to encourage, educate and assist NCAA football players to use their name, image and likeness for good - to promote unity, positivity and kindness in their community.
The entire Gibbons family helps him out with the non-profit on a daily basis. Dillan is the only one of my children who does not plan to join the family business, but he helps us out as much as he can with marketing and analytics. Growing up, my children were immersed in the passion I felt for my clients and the work that I do as an advocate for them - changing peoples lives one client at time.
I've taught my children the Golden Rule and they know that at our firm, we treat our clients as we would like to be treated - like FAMILY.
