Mr Hernandez has been in practice in South Florida since 1995 and actively trying maritime cases, both jury and non-jury, at the state and federal court levels, as well as before international arbitral tribunals. From 2006 to 2015, Mr Hernandez was a Partner at a Miami maritime firm practicing primarily in the area of maritime defense litigation.
He now primarily represents injured individuals against the cruise lines, cargo shipowners/operators, gaming boat owners/operators, and recreational boat/yacht owners. Mr Hernandez has litigated all types of personal injury matters -- from the simple to the complex, including cases involving catastrophic injuries, cauda equina spinal injuries, cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), failed spinal surgeries, traumatic amputations, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
In the past, Mr Hernandez represented the cruise lines, but now focuses his practice on personal injury claims against cruise lines, cargo ship owners/operators, gaming boat owners/operators, and maritime concessionaires on behalf of passengers, crewmembers, and other maritime workers. Mr Hernandez also has substantial experience in the immediate post-incident investigation of marine casualties, including serious personal injuries, deaths, claims of sexual assault, onboard crimes, and man overboard situations.
