Evan D. George has over thirteen years experience in Immigration Law, and served as the Professor of Immigration Law the University of Florida Law School from 2016 to 2018. Mr George has operated his own Immigration Law practice in Gainesville, Florida since February 2008. In 2018, Mr George co-founded George & Cabrera PLLC, which represents individuals in all areas of immigration, asylum, naturalization and deportation defense.
Mr George is a frequent guest speaker and CLE presenter at conferences and meetings, including the University of Florida Law School, the Center for Latin American Studies, and the Alachua County State Attorney's Office and Public Defenders Office. Mr George provides pro-bono legal services to indigent asylum seekers and battered migrant women and conducts Know Your Rights presentations for immigrant groups.
After law school, Mr George spent nearly three years with a premier immigration firm in New York City, NY, Masliah & Soloway, PC, where he represented over seventy-five asylum seekers, from dozens of countries, with claims of a well-founded fear of persecution, including persons targeted for violence on account of their political opinion, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and ethnicity.
Mr George is a member of the Florida Bar, an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida. In 2009 and 2010, Mr George served on the Executive Board for the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association for Alachua County.
Mr George was a Co-Chair for the New York City AILA Young Lawyers Division for 2005 and 2006.
