Frances Delafuente has been practicing exclusively in the area of immigration and nationality law since 1990. She has successfully represented clients of all scope and size, ranging from Fortune 500 to start-up companies to individuals throughout the United States. Frances is skilled at processing both non-immigrant and immigrant cases, labor certifications, and foreign visas for workers abroad.
She regularly provides on-site training to Human Resources professionals, hiring managers, and foreign national employees. In addition, Frances is vastly experienced in the area of regulatory compliance, including conducting audits for clients and assisting them in formulating immigration policies. She participated in the Miami Chamber of Commerce's Immigration Related Employer Compliance Program, sponsored by the U.
S. Department of Justice, which provided immigration law seminars to over 250 corporations. Frances was also a key contributor to Navigating the Waters of Immigration-Related Employment Discrimination & Compliance Issues, an I-9 compliance handbook for employers. Prior to creating the Delafuente Law Group, Frances practiced with one of the largest law firms in the country dedicated exclusively to representing management on employment issues.
This experience has equipped Frances with a unique understanding of employment laws, enabling her to provide a more complete analysis of immigration issues. Frances has been an adjunct professor at Florida International University and frequently lectures on immigration and constitutional law issues at seminars sponsored by state bar associations, the American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA"), national and regional organizations, national business associations, and other employer organizations.
Frances received her baccalaureate degree from Florida International University in Miami, Florida and her Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1991 and has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 1990.
Currently Frances serves as a founding boardmember of The Shelly Foundation, a federally recognized non-profit organization, dedicated to the research and development of a cure for Ependymome tumors. Frances is also fluent in Spanish and conversant in French.
