Gena Cohen was an Assistant State Attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, Broward County, Florida, for almost ten years. She spent half of her years as a prosecutor as a Supervising Assistant State Attorney for the Juvenile Division of the Broward State Attorney’s office. Mrs. Cohen received her Juris Doctorate (‘02) from the Nova University Law Center, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations (’99) from Boston University, in Boston, Massachusetts.
She is a member of the Florida Bar, Broward County Bar Association, Broward County Womens’ Lawyer Association and the Broward County Justice Association During her tenure at the State Attorney’s Office of Broward County, Mrs. Cohen has been assigned to the Misdemeanor County Court Division, Misdemeanor Case Filing, the Felony Trial Unit as a Division Prosecutor, Supervisor of Juvenile Drug Court, Juvenile Drug Court, Juvenile Supervisor and Juvenile Case Filer.
Mrs. Cohen tried numerous jury trial cases including aggravated battery, battery on a law enforcement officer, battery on a school board employee, grand theft, grand theft auto, burglary, and driving under the influence cases. Additionally, Mrs. Cohen has supervised hundreds of trials and motions. Mrs.
Cohen was responsible for training new attorneys straight out of law school. Mrs. Cohen handled all first degree felonies including sexual batteries, arson, and bomb cases. Since entering private practice, Mrs. Cohen is assisting the attorneys of Abramowitz, Pomerantz & Coffey and her clients in obtaining fair compensation for their injuries.
Mrs. Cohen focuses her practice in the areas of personal injury, premises liability, car accidents and wrongful death.
