About Jason A. Penrod

Fortunate to have grown up next door to his grandparents, Jason is from Pendleton, New York, a small rural town that is a half hour drive from Buffalo and Niagara Falls. He earned his earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science while attending the Honors Program at Niagara University and was the recipient of the Sertoma Award for academic excellence.

Minoring in Spanish, Jason was blessed with the life changing opportunity to live with a Spanish family in Seville, Spain while studying abroad for a semester. Upon graduation, Jason ran for political office and worked to save money to attend law school in Nashville, Tennessee at Vanderbilt University.

After graduating in 2003, Jason relocated to Florida to begin his law career with G. Penfield Jennings, P.A. in Dunedin. In late 2004, Jason accepted a position with Weaver and McClendon, P.A. in Lake Wales. Having never visited Lake Wales, Jason grew an instant affection for the community and its small town charm.

After a short time with the firm, partners Jim Weaver and Jay McClendon supported Jason in developing their elder law practice and Jason became a partner in 2007 with the new entity Weaver, McClendon & Penrod, LLP. In early 2013, Jason opened the Family Elder Law Firm, P.A. with his firm’s mission to provide quality legal services in a compassionate and comforting manner to the needs of the elderly, those with special needs and to their respective families.

With his business partner and lifelong friend, Dennis Scovazzo, the two have expanded their business endeavors recently by cofounding Family Financial Services and J&D Properties. Jason and his wife, Monica, are blessed with two beautiful children, Isabella and Alexander.
