Jason Cromey received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University and graduated with his Juris Doctorate degree from the University Of Alabama School Of Law. After graduating from law school Jason began his legal career working for the Office of the Public Defender in West Palm Beach, Florida.
After rising through the ranks of the office, ending his tenure at the West Palm Beach Public Defender’s Office as a Felony Division Supervisor, Jason, his wife and children moved to the panhandle of Florida, settling in Pensacola. Jason joined the Office of the Public Defender in Pensacola as the Misdemeanor Chief, Director of Training and Recruitment, and as one of the office’s only Death Penalty lawyers.
One of Jason’s numerous job responsibilities was to teach and provide his analysis of new case law and statutory changes to all the Office’s attorneys in both the misdemeanor and felony divisions. He is widely considered one of the foremost authorities on DUI laws in the Pensacola area and keeps current on the constant changes that occur to DUI laws in Florida and Pensacola.
In addition, as the Misdemeanor Division Chief, he was charged with not only training new attorneys but also handling problematic cases, issues and crises that occur within the five county court divisions, often having to meet with various judges, public defenders and prosecutors to resolve conflicts or problems.
During the past few years Jason has developed a reputable Appellate and Post Conviction practice. He has handled appeals, writing briefs and post-conviction matters from County to Circuit Court, before the First District Court of Appeals, which is the appellate court having jurisdiction over Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton County Cases, as well as doing the same legal work before the Fourth District Court of Appeals in South Florida.
In addition to state court trial and appellate work Jason has authored briefs to the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Federal Appeals, the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. He is licensed to handle matters in both Federal and State Courts in Florida and Alabama.
