Jessica has extensive knowledge and experience in the area of Marital and Family Law. She prides herself on her dedication to her cases and clients. She is a strategic and effective advocate who spends the time and effort to make sure that her clients understand the process, the law, the possible outcomes, and the risks of either going to court or settling their cases.
Jessica’s practice consists primarily of mediating family law disputes. When Jessica is not mediating, she also represents clients through the collaborative divorce process and testifies as a fee expert in family law matters. Jessica has been practicing law since 2002. Before opening Felix & Baseman, she was a partner at Older, Lundy & Alvarez where she proficiently litigated and mediated Marital and Family Law matters.
Prior to that, Jessica was an associate of the law firm of Swope, Rodante, P.A. where she practiced in the areas of insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, personal injury, and product liability. Jessica is a member of the Florida Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar.
Jessica is a member of several collaborative organizations, including, the Collaborative Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals (TBACP), the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals (FACP) and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP).
She is currently co-chair of Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals and has previously been the secretary and a board member of the organization. Jessica was also a former conference co-chair for the FACP, and a former co-chair of the Collaborative Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association.
Jessica has been collaboratively trained since 2010 and has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator since 2015. Jessica has authored several articles on family law related matters and has been a speaker at a number of continuing education courses, conferences and legal functions regarding family law litigation, discovery, trial preparation and collaborative family law practice.
Jessica earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Emory University in 1998; and her Juris Doctorate Degree, cum laude, from the Florida State University College of Law in 2002. While at Emory she worked with the Department of Psychiatry in a research-based preschool for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
