Jessie Harrell is board-certified by The Florida Bar as an appellate specialist. She handles appeals in state and federal court ranging from plaintiff's actions to commercial litigation to family law. She is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a "Rising Star" in appellate practice by Florida Trend Magazine every year since 2009.
Jessie is the Chair of the CLE (Continuing Legal Education) Committee for the Appellate Practice Section of the Florida Bar, sits on that section's Executive Council, and is a past chair of the Appellate Practice Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association. Jessie is a member of the First District Appellate American Inn of Court.
She previously participated in a three-year term as a Barrister with the Chester Bedell Inn of Court. She is a current member of the Jacksonville Justice Association and Florida Justice Association. Prior to joining the firm, Jessie practiced commercial litigation, including appeals, with the national law firm of Foley & Lardner, LLP.
There, she represented some of the nation's Fortune 500 companies at the trial and appellate level. A Florida native, Jessie graduated from the University of Florida, with highest honors in 1998, receiving a B.A. in Classical Studies. She received her law degree with high honors in 2001 from the University of Florida College of Law.
She finished in the top ten of her class and received numerous awards for her academic achievements and successes on the school's trial team. Jessie also served as an articles senior editor on the Journal of Law and Public Policy. After law school, Jessie was inducted in the Order of the Coif. Jessie is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, the United States Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.
Jessie enjoys using her skills, be they legal or not, to give back to her community. Jessie again co-chaired the annual auction benefitting Hendricks Day School and was previously a member of the school's Strategic Partnerships Committee. She led a local Girl Scout troop for three years. From 2006 to 2010, Jessie served as a board member for Voices for Children of the First Coast, Inc.
, the nonprofit organization that supports the Guardian ad Litem program for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. She served as Secretary of the board in 2009. Jessie also received the Pro Bono Award in 2007 from Jacksonville Area Legal Aid for her commitment to assisting indigent clients with their legal problems.
