John E. Moore, III graduated from Vero Beach High School and earned his undergraduate degree in accounting, with highest honors, from the University of Notre Dame in 1982. Following work as a certified public accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Dallas, Mr Moore graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law.
During law school he served as President of the Law School and was named the Outstanding Graduate in the Class of 1986. After a period of private practice in Washington, from 1991 to 1993 he served in a series of presidentially appointed positions within the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
His tenure saw service as Deputy Federal Housing Commissioner in which position his responsibilities included management of the national operations of the Federal Housing Administration. In 1993, Mr Moore returned to his home town of Vero Beach. Since that time, his practice has focused in the areas of estate planning and administration and related issues.
Both an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant, Mr Moore has been a member of the Florida Bar and District of Columbia Bar since 1986 and is a member of the Real Property and Trust Section of the Florida Bar. Mr Moore is a frequent continuing legal education and motivational speaker, presenting programs on practice management, personal development, charitable planning, as well as financial, taxation and estate planning matters to bar associations, law firms and charitable organizations in 22 states and two Canadian provinces.
Mr Moore has served a variety of community organizations in Vero Beach. He has served as non-partisan elected trustee of the Indian River County Hospital District which oversees indigent medical care and hospital operations in Indian River County. He has also served as Indian River County’s Affordable Housing Advocate and a member of the Affordable Housing Advisory Commission to the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners.
Mr Moore worked to establish the Community Service Ministry and Men’s Ministry of The Holy Cross Catholic Church and has been a director of numerous local charitable organizations. His work in the community has been recognized with various community-wide service awards. Mr Moore is a scuba diver, private pilot, sailor and golfer; he currently serves as a pilot in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Married to Lee Robinson Moore, the Moores have three children.
