After college, Joseph worked for the Florida Legislature as a Legislative Assistant for three years. Subsequent to working for the Florida Legislature, Joseph graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law with honors in 2012. During his time at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Joseph’s studies were tailored to Criminal Law and Constitutional Law.

Joseph enrolled in courses such as Federal Criminal Law, Death Penalty Law, First Amendment Law, and Prosecutorial Ethics. While attending the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Joseph was a Research Editor for two published law journals; The Florida Journal of International Law and The Florida Journal of Technology Law and Policy.

Additionally, Joseph was an Extern for the Honorable Circuit Judge Martha J. Cook in Tampa, Florida, during the summer of 2011.  Also, while at UF, Joseph participated as an Extern at the 8th Judicial Circuit’s State Attorney’s Office in Gainesville, Florida through the University of Florida Levin College of Law’s Externship Program.

During his externship, Joseph externed in the Domestic Violence Unit for the 8th Judicial Circuit. Over the course of a semester, Joseph assisted Prosecutors in preparing domestic violence cases by analyzing evidence, speaking to witnesses, and deposing alleged victims of domestic violence. He also was awarded a Pro Bono Certificate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law for the extra hours Joseph worked after his externship had concluded at the 8th Judicial Circuit’s State Attorney’s Office.

After graduating from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2012 and after being admitted to the Florida Bar, Joseph began working as a Prosecutor for the State Attorney of the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orlando. While at the Ninth Judicial Circuit's State Attorney's Office, Joseph also prosecuted cases in the Juvenile Criminal Circuit. While prosecuting juvenile offenses, Joseph learned the intricacies of juvenile court which are different than the adult criminal court. Specifically, Joseph learned that the juvenile justice system is procedurally different and is more tailored to rehabilitating juveniles as opposed to punishing them.

Additionally, during Joseph’s tenure as a Prosecutor in Orlando, Florida, Joseph was selected by the State Attorney’s Office to attend various educational seminars throughout the State of Florida. One of these seminars was the Gerald T. Bennett Prosecutor/Public Defender Training Program. At this program, Joseph was trained by judges and advanced litigators who taught Joseph invaluable courtroom strategies and techniques that he uses in the courtroom today.
