About Joy Ann Demas

Joy was born in Orlando, Florida.  She received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida and subsequently attended Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida where she received her Juris Doctorate in December 1998.  Joy was admitted to The Florida Bar in April 1999.

Prior to joining Caveda Law Firm, she was a partner in the Demas Law Group where the majority of her practice encompassed Marital and Family Law. Joy's legal experience also includes being former Assistant Staff Counsel in the Lawyer Regulation Department of The Florida Bar where she evaluated and prosecuted attorneys for ethical violations of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.

Joy began her career at the Law Office of Raymond A. Alley in Tampa, Florida where her practice focused on Family and Marital Law.  She left Mr Alley’s office to practice with Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. from 2001-2004, dealing mainly with issues concerning nursing home abuse and medical malpractice. Joy is a member of The Florida Bar and the Clearwater Bar Association and currently focuses her practice areas on Family and Marital Law and Estate Planning .

Joy earned a softball scholarship at Stetson University, a Division I institution.  She has coached her children’s Countryside Little League tee ball team and Joy was the coordinator for the Countryside Jr. Cougar’s Flag Cheerleading Program in 2007 and 2008 where she was honored as the program’s 2007 Volunteer of the Year.

  Joy also had the privilege of joining the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training for whom she helped raise over $5.5 million by participating in the 2008 and 2009 Walt Disney World Half Marathon.  She has recently raised money for cancer research by participating in Cure on Wheels, a 60 mile cycling event in 2009.
