Jules Massee graduated in 1996 from the SUNY Maritime College at Ft. Schuyler, where he received a B.S., with distinction , in Marine Business & Commerce, and currently holds an unlimited Chief Mate / 1600 ton Master’s license from the U.S. Coast Guard. He has extensive seagoing experience as an officer on a wide variety of commercial vessels including tugboats, passenger sailboats, cruise ships, and oil tankers.
Mr Massee earned his Juris Doctorate degree, magna cum laude , from the Florida A&M University College of Law in 2007, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. During his third year of law school, Mr Massee served the Honorable James G. Glazebrook as a student clerk in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Mr Massee practices in the area of Admiralty & Maritime law including commercial and recreational marine casualty and collision litigation; personal injury and wrongful death defense (Jones Act, Longshore, passenger, and recreational); marine insurance litigation (hull & machinery claims, P&I, coverage and subrogation); maritime attachment and arrest actions; and cargo claims.
He is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, Southern Districts of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr Massee is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section – Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee, and the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Tampa.
