Kenia Garcia was born in Cuba. She immigrated to the United States when she was only 14 years old. Her and family came on a raft from Cuba and they were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (formerly INS) at Krome Service Processing Center. Ms. Garcia attended Troy University where she obtained her undergraduate degree and graduated with the highest honors, summa cum laude .
She attended Florida International University College of Law and graduated cum laude and third in her class. Ms. Garcia was an active member of the highly regarded trial and negotiation teams at Florida International University; where she received invaluable training. While attending law school Ms.
Garcia participated in the prestigious Immigration and Human Rights Clinic under the guidance and supervision of Professor Juan Gomez. She worked at Legal Services of Greater Miami, handling landlord/tenant issues. Ms. Garcia was a Certified Legal Intern during her time at the Miami Dade Office of the State Attorney where she had the opportunity of conducting several bench trials.
During her time at the Third District Court of Appeal, Ms. Garcia assisted The Honorable Judge Barbara Lagoa. Ms. Garcia is an active member in good standing of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Coral Gables Bar Association, the Dade Bar Association, the Colombian Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Ms. Garcia is eligible to practice in the State of Florida and in the Southern District of Florida and is fluent in Spanish. While Ms. Garcia’s office is based in Miami, Florida, her practice generally involves matters pending in various other states.
