Mr Turner earned his Bachelor of Science and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida. After working for a short period of time for the law firm of Selig Goldin, Richard Jones and Benmont Tench (later a circuit judge), Mr Turner was employed by the Office of the State Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit.
He was a felony prosecutor and during the course of his career with the Office of the State Attorney he prosecuted felonies of all types, including capital cases. Mr Turner left the Office of the State Attorney and returned to private practice in partnership with Selig Goldin. Initially their practice was a general practice of law but over the years, Mr Turner specialized in representing professionals with licensing, tenure and employment issues, criminal defense, and civil rights litigation.
In the criminal arenas, Mr Turner practiced in both federal and state courts representing individuals charged with various violations of criminal law, including capital cases, white collar crimes, crimes against property, crimes against persons, and drug offenses. In 1997 Mr Turner was appointed to the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court as a circuit judge and ran unopposed for re-election the following year.
During his time on the bench, Judge Turner at various times sat on the criminal bench, the family bench and the civil/probate bench. In January 2005, Mr Turner returned to the private practice of law. He concentrates his practice on complex criminal, administrative law and civil litigation. On occasion, he serves as a mediator and as a “private judge”.
Throughout his career, Mr Turner has been qualified and accepted as an expert witness in the area of criminal law and procedure in various state and federal courts.
