Maite de Barros is an associate with the Law Office of Ramon de la Cabada who is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Ms. de Barros has been working with the Law Office of Ramon de la Cabada since October of 2012. During her time with the Law Office of Ramon de la Cabada she has worked on cases ranging from DUIs to Life Felonies.
She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Valerie Manno-Schurr, Circuit Court Judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida. Prior to clerking for Judge Manno-Schurr, Ms. Maite de Barros was a Certified Legal Intern for Florida Coastal School of Law’s Disabilities and Public Benefits Clinic.
During her time in law school, Ms. Maite de Barros also worked as a volunteer intern at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid’s Refugee Immigration Project where she assisted refugees and paroles in applying for immigration status and benefits. Ms. Maite de Barros attended Florida State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Affairs.
While attending Florida State she was involved in the State legislative process as a legislative intern for The Wren Group L.L.C. and as the Political Action Chair for the Hispanic Latino Student Union. She earned her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida where she was a member of the Coastal Association for Public Interest Law, The International Law Society and The Hispanic Law Student Association.
Ms. Maite de Barros also attended the Fundação Getulio Vargas University in Rio de Janiero, Brazil where she studied Comparative Law, Labor and Employment Law and Environmental Policies of Brazil and the U.S. She is a member of the Florida Bar Association, Dade County Bar Association, The Cuban-American Bar Association, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Florida Association of Women Lawyers and Junior League of Miami.
