Michael Mayoral is a shareholder and founder of Perez Mayoral, P.A. His practice focuses on multiple areas of civil litigation, business law, real estate transactions. Michael has worked on several high stakes matters in state and federal court throughout the Southeastern United States. As a civil litigator, Michael served as counsel in many injury-related cases, including car and trucking accidents, slip-and-falls, negligent security, and toxic torts.
He recently led the representation of a large number of plaintiffs who developed leukemia and other blood-related cancers subsequent to working as part of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill clean-up response. Michael has experience in representing the interests of businesses in state and federal court.
He previously served as counsel for a publicly-listed real estate investment trust, where he handled the company’s landlord-tenant related litigation. He recently handled litigation in state and federal court for multiple nightclubs accused of misappropriating the images of several well-known celebrities and models (alleged Lanham Act violations).
He has also represented apartment buildings, home-owner’s associations, and property management companies throughout the state of Florida. Michael has a strong passion for legal advocacy, especially when he has the opportunity to represent disadvantaged members of the community. Michael began his legal career as a Miami-Dade Assistant Public Defender, representing indigent clients.
During his years practicing as a criminal defense attorney, he served as counsel in dozens of jury trials involving all types of crimes. He has represented clients in cases involving charges such as attempted murder, armed cocaine trafficking, cargo theft, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, cocaine possession, battery, DUI/BUI, and insurance fraud.
He litigated Florida’s Stand Your Ground law in state court multiple times and has spoken at law student symposiums on the Stand Your Ground law and its application. Michael is a graduate of the University of Miami’s School of Law, where he received his J.D. degree with multiple honors. He was on the Dean’s List for multiple semesters, and also received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement for earning the highest grades in Criminal Procedure and Florida Legal Research.
He served on the Business Law Review and the board for the Mass Tort and Complex Litigation Society. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with magna cum laude honors from Florida International University, with a minor in Economics. Michael now represents people and businesses in state and federal court, as well as in residential and commercial real estate transactions.
