I am proud to be a careful and determined litigator, and an advocate for justice. I have litigated motor vehicle negligence cases (soft tissue, spinal fractures, knee injuries, shoulder injuries, eye damage, scarring cases, brain damage and wrongful death actions). I have represented interests in serious products liability disputes (hurricane shutters, chemicals, and safety devices), and in hotly contested commercial cases (fraud, unjust enrichment, breach of contract, civil theft, conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duty, declaratory actions, and many others).
Over the years I have also provided pro bono representation in the area of affordable housing (for residents of threatened mobile home parks and parents who were being forced out of their condominium because they had a child) and most recently in a major climate change litigation based upon Florida Constitutional Law and the Public Trust Doctrine.
My outside projects include the Responsive Shelter Initiative () which is designed to bring emergency transitional shelters to vicitms of severe natural disasters, and in the past I created and produced, for three years, a streaming TV channnel on climate and sea level rise issues, research and opportunities.
Past projects include an effort to prevent the double-decking of Interstate 595 in Broward County, Florida (Team leader); efforts to relocate IKEA complex from Davie, Florida to Sunrise, Florida; and Past Chair of the Town of Davie Affordable Housing Committee; Homeowner's Association First President.
I have lectured and had speaking engagements at universities (University of Miami School of Architecture, Florida Atlantic University, University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science, Miami-Dade College, Barry College, Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, University of Florida Levin College of Law) and published Op Eds.
I enjoy making informative videos and design, produce and maintain websites (, , ). My podcast, "Climate Monitor" is on major podcast platforms. I also presented at other venues, including the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, the American Institute of Architects 2016 National Convention in Philadelphia, the Arthur R.
Marshall Foundation for the Everglades and the Environmental Coalition for Miami and the Beaches. I am a past Director of the CLEO Institute, which educates youth and adults on climate issues. I appeared on Sirius XM Radio's "Tell Me Everything" with John Fugelsang and on Public Radio's WLRN. My mentor was my Father, Mr Louis Chester.
I also had the opportunity to intern for Senator John Glenn in 1975 as a media aide. I work with my Son, Albert Chester, Esq. and am privileged to work with Dawn Miller, our Office manager and Paralegal. I have also had the honor of litigating against, and along side, some of the most talented lawyers in Southeastern Florida over the past four decades.
I enjoy being in Court and jury trials, but also appreciate the art of presenting cases in mediation. Medical and technical issues in Court cases intrigue me. I enjoy the negotiation process. Based in Fort Lauderdale, I cover state Courts in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties, but also litigate in other Florida areas.
With a deep respect for the law and our exceptional legal system, as well as the right to trial by jury, I am appreciative to be able to serve my community as an advocate and civic activist. I enjoy being a legal problem solver.
