Mr Carmona is a bilingual attorney licensed to practice law in Florida and Puerto Rico. His practice is focused on International Law, Immigration, Civil Litigaton, and Bankruptcy. He has extensive experience in contested Family Law matters. With respect to his international practice, Mr Carmona devotes a substantial portion of his time assisting both businesses and individuals establishing or relocating to the United States.
Born in the Island of Puerto Rico, Mr Carmona relocated to the mainland United States at a young age. He attended Oviedo High School and completed two bachelor degrees at the University of Central Florida (UCF): Legal Studies and Spanish. He received a full scholarship from the same institution to complete a Master of Arts degree in Spanish and served Fulbright Professor Dr.
Humberto Lopez Cruz in Spain as his research assistant. He later went on to receive his Juris Doctor, cum laude, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico where he was part of the Law Review and completed internships and comparative international law classes in London and Madrid. Mr Carmona is fluent in Spanish and has the cultural expertise to understand on a personal level many people that share Latin and Hispanic backgrounds.
He conducts in person presentations in Latin America and the Caribbean on the subject of relocating to the United States. During law school, Mr Carmona served as a law clerk for Honorable Judge Daniel DomÃnguez of the Federal Court for the District of Puerto Rico. He was a member of the Law Review and published the law article titled: Rights of Treasure Hunters under Puerto Rico Law: Application of Article 285 of the Civil Code through the Jones Act, the Puerto Rican Underwater Archaeological Protection Act and the Abandoned Shipwreck Act of 1987.
After graduating from law school, he went to work for a Bankruptcy Trustee for the Middle District Bankruptcy Court of Florida. He then worked as an associate attorney for two local boutique law firms being responsible for the development and or expansion of their bankruptcy, family and civil law practices.
Mr Carmona later successfully managed his own firm for over 8 years concentrating his practice on Family, Bankruptcy, Civil Litigation and Immigration.
