I truly enjoy talking to new people that I might be able to help, especially when I feel I might be able to help with using the law to make a significant impact on their financial lives. I consider myself somewhat of a “financial planner” when that plan may benefit greatly from the use of the bankruptcy laws.
The system of bankruptcy in this country is as old as the country itself, being set out in the United States Constitution itself. It is each individual’s right, maybe even their obligation, to set their finances in order to benefit themselves, their families, and in a larger sense, the national economy.
Almost all of my clients view bankruptcy as a last resort, but then find it is not the worst result. In fact, they come to see that it perhaps should have been their plan A (or B, or C) all along. My personal philosophy in my practice is to do an excellent legal job for my clients, but just as importantly, to treat each client with the dignity and respect we all deserve.
A financial set-back can happen to anyone; it is not a reflection of character or we’ve been able to accomplish, and still will, in our lives. I find there is often what I call a good deal of “legal hand-holding” through the process, and that’s one of the parts I enjoy the most. I’m admitted in the middle and northern districts of Florida, which covers a huge geographical area, and I have clients from all over.
I’ve found much can be accomplished through phone contact, mail, etc, so that even clients who live 100 miles or more away from my main office feel the personal touch and confidence I strive for. I’ve practiced over 30 years, and cherish the good-will of the thousands of clients I’ve been lucky enough to serve.
