Ross D. Vickers is an associate in the Jacksonville, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling and in litigation. He develops a deep understanding of the matters and trends impacting his client’s businesses to inform his approach to providing effective and efficient client service.
Ross is an experienced trial attorney who has successfully tried both jury and bench trials to verdict. He regularly defends employers from claims brought against them under various state and federal employment laws, including but not limited to, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Rehab Act), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Florida Civil Rights Act (FCRA), the Florida Whistleblower Act (FWA), and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
During law school, Ross wrote and edited articles for the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law. He obtained the Book Award (highest grade in the class) and an award for Best Appellate Brief in Legal Research and Writing. Following graduation from law school, he served the public as a prosecutor with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and the Florida Department of Health (DOH), while simultaneously operating his own private civil litigation practice.
He then joined an AV-rated civil defense law firm in Tallahassee, Florida, where he counseled public and private employers and defended them in the state and federal courts. Immediately prior to joining Jackson Lewis, P.C., Ross was a member of the Labor and Employment practice group of an AM-LAW 200 civil defense firm based in Miami, Florida.
Ross has a wife, two children, and dog. He spends all of his spare time with his family exploring the trails and beaches of North Florida, traveling, and attending live sporting events. He is a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association (“TBA”), of the Labor and Employment Law and of the Young Lawyers sections of the Florida Bar Association, and of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (“FDLA”).
He is Co-Chair of the FDLA Young Lawyer’s Division and serves FDLA as “TheVault Keeper,” whom is responsible for maintaining a digital document repository for the statewide civil defense bar.
