About Sara A. Bazzigaluppi

Sara is a health care attorney for Chapman Law Group’s Sarasota Office. She is dedicated to the defense of individual health care practitioners as well as health care entities. Prior to joining the Firm, Sara worked for the Board of Governors of the State of Florida University System under the University of Florida J.

Hillis Miller Health Center Self-Insurance Program defending participating health care providers. She worked on an array of topics related to trial preparation and alternative dispute resolution for malpractice defense cases. Her passion for health care law brought her to work for the University of Florida Health System and Shands Hospital both as a legal intern and a compliance intern.

Sara worked especially on physician billing regulatory compliance issues, including but not limited to Stark law, Antikickback Statute, and the False Claims Act. Sara also worked for H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute where she predominantly focused on cybersecurity governance protocols, telemedicine initiatives, and regulatory compliance relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Sara’s experience also includes the due diligence review of various contractual agreements ranging from business associate agreements to pharmacy benefits management contracts for both public and private health care entities. Sara received her law degree in 2017 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

While in law school, Sara helped create the Mental Health Law Association to serve students by providing educational and networking opportunities, while offering a more open environment surrounding mental illness and the legal sphere. Sara conducted independent research on State Bar Associations’ inquiries into the mental health of applicants and wrote a thesis analyzing the difference between behavior and mental health as predictors for fitness to practice.

Her thesis was titled “Mental Health Disclosure Requirements in State Bar Applications: A Proposed Change.” Sara believes in being proactive in her community. During her law school career she volunteered her legal skills and received the Pro Bono Certificate of Outstanding Achievement upon graduation for completing over 105 hours of pro bono work for the Gainesville community.

Sara attended the University of South Florida Muma College of Business, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics, Cum Laude. Upon graduation, Sara received the Undergraduate Scholar Award for her efforts creating the “Honors College Leadership and Success Seminar Series” which aimed to provide students with the tools necessary for success going beyond academic achievement, including connecting young college students with successful entrepreneurs and mentors within the Tampa Bay area.
