Scott is a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate Attorney. When not at the office or in court, Scott spends his free time with his wife and three sons at a small family farm/ranch in Southeast Hillsborough County. Scott, a sixth-generation Floridian, enjoys raising beef cattle and growing various agricultural products.
While at Stetson University, College of Law, Scott served as an Editor of the Law Review, and upon graduation, was awarded the Cecil E. and Augusta Bailey Award for meritorious leadership in the field of law. Since becoming a member of the Florida Bar in 2000, Scott has vigorously represented his clients in courtrooms, boardrooms, and arbitration forums throughout Florida, and before the Florida Governor and Cabinet.
Scott litigates cases which involve the following topics, among others: contract disputes, securities fraud, Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act violations, restrictive covenant enforcement, foreclosure defense/prosecution, lease disputes, title claims, partition actions, easement disputes, common law fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, misrepresentation, Florida's Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act, shareholder derivation actions, civil theft, replevin, and consumer protection.
Before joining Owens Law Group, P.A. Scott was a solo practitioner for five years with offices in Tampa, Sun City Center, Riverview and Wesley Chapel. Scott has lectured on real estate, mortgage, securities, and corporate topics, and focuses his practice in these areas. Scott is President of the Bay Area Real Estate Council; a member of the Attorney's Title Fund Services, LLC; and has conducted hundreds of real estate transactions throughout Florida.
Scott also serves as general counsel for various non-profit organizations, and as an expert witness in real estate cases.
