About Silvino Edward Diaz

Michelle Canero was born in Caracas, Venezuela and migrated to Miami, Florida in 1988. She is trilingual in Spanish, French, and English and her parents are of Trinidadian, American, Spanish and Uruguayan descent. Michelle currently lives in Miami, Florida with her family, practicing Immigration Law and raising her two children.

Michelle graduated Cum Laude from Groton School in Massachusetts and received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Art History from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. She returned to Miami to pursue her Degree in Law and graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in 2006.   She began her career in civil litigation at Thornton Davis and Fein PA where she had interned throughout law school.

  In 2009 she transitioned to Immigration law when she joined Antonia Canero P.A..  For over 10 years she has worked in the practice to become managing partner of what is now Canero Immigration Law Firm. Michelle and her firm represent foreign nationals from all over the world in various types of immigration matters with a focus on business immigration.

  Michelle has experience working with multinational corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, as well as individuals, in a variety of immigration matters. Michelle specializes in processing employment-based visa applications before U.S. consulates abroad and USCIS. She has extensive experience in nonimmigrant visa processing in H, L, O, E, J, and TN categories.

Michelle also has expertise processing immigrant visa applications for EB1 extraordinary ability individuals, EB1 multinational managers and executives, labor certifications for EB2 advanced degree and exceptional ability workers, and labor certifications for EB3 professional, skilled and unskilled workers.

She also has experience in national interest waivers and schedule A occupation visa processing. Michelle’s practice also includes the preparation of inadmissibility waivers, family-based petitions, and naturalization applications. Michelle believes in the value of engagement and community outreach, volunteering her time and resources to educational programming and support for various chambers of commerce and non-profit organizations.

She is involved in immigration advocacy with state and federal agencies as well as local, state and congressional representatives. Michelle is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and currently serves on the Board of the AILA South Florida Chapter. She is the chair of several AILA South Florida Chapter committees.

Michelle frequently speaks on immigration matters at local chambers of commerce, professional organizations, and academic institutions.  She has also spoken on continuing legal education panels for both AILA and Catholic Legal Services.
