About Sonya Anastasia Peterkin
Sonya Peterkin is a Florida licensed attorney and the Founder and Managing Attorney of the Law Office of S.A. Peterkin. Sonya Peterkin earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, and later earned her Juris Doctorate law degree at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University College of Law in Orlando, Florida. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, the Middle District of Florida, South Lake Chamber of Commerce, and the Caribbean Bar Association. She is fully licensed to represent clients before US Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and Federal Court . ​ Her passion for immigration law originates from her experience as the child of two immigrant parents from the island of Jamaica, and growing up in an immigrant community in South Florida. Due to her experiences, Attorney Peterkin personally relates to immigrants and their families.  She is able to draw from her experiences to provide her clients with legal representation that is honest and personally-tailored to meet the client's needs. As a Certified Domestic Violence Advocate, she has worked with many domestic violence victims in Central Florida to obtain protective orders against their abusers in court. She also provides legal representation in domestic violence related asylum cases and green cards under the Violence Against Women Act.
