Steven Rothman is a senior shareholder practicing civil litigation with emphasis on product liability, wrongful death, personal injury, defamation, real estate and commercial litigation. Mr Rothman is a 1985 graduate of the Florida State University College of Law (with honors) and member of The Florida Bar, Palm Beach County Bar Association, and United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
Mr Rothman has been Board Certified in Civil Litigation since 1993 and listed as a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics Florida Super Lawyers Magazine. He was initially board certified in 1993 by The Florida Bar Association and has been re-certified every five years since that time, meeting or exceeding the rigorous standards.
Board Certification is the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar of legal competency and experience. As of March 2016, there were over 85,000 lawyers practicing in Florida and only 1,044 were Board Certified in Civil Trial Law (just over 1%). While any lawyers can advertise, only certified attorneys can identify themselves as “Board Certified.
” Every board certified civil trial lawyer must have been substantially involved in civil trial law during the three years preceding application, must have conducted at least fifteen contested civil cases, including cases before a jury and as lead counsel, passed peer review scrutiny, completed 50 hours of continuing legal education, and passed a difficult written examination demonstrating knowledge, skill and proficiency in civil trial law.
Mr Rothman has been continuously board certified for over twenty years. Mr Rothman has handled and tried cases for plaintiffs and defendants in a wide array of areas, including personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, toxic tort litigation, pharmaceutical drug and nutritional supplement litigation, medical device litigation, mold and Chinese drywall contamination, electrical fixture/lighting cases, electrical contact/electrocution cases, underground and above ground utility cases, nursing home negligence, premises liability, negligent security, equestrian litigation, farm and crop litigation, commercial and residential structural defect cases, contract cases, defamation cases, insurance coverage disputes, real estate cases, and business disputes.

Mr Rothman has handled and tried cases involving complex, technical engineering issues, including tractor-trailer accidents, post-collision fuel fed fires, electrical fires, unexpected acceleration, vehicular rollovers, boating accidents, engine and mechanical component failures, tire-mounting accidents, and tire tread and belt separation cases.
His litigation experience includes automobiles, trucks, tractor-trailers, motorcycles, bicycles, passenger car and medium duty tires, agricultural and industrial equipment, portable power equipment, aerial lifts, boats, marine engines and products, electrical devices, electrical distribution systems, pharmaceutical products, nutritional supplements, weight loss products, medical devices, and other products.
Mr Rothman’s interest in the design and functionality of products began at a young age as the son of an auto parts dealer. He was a vocationally-trained automotive mechanic prior to changing course to become a lawyer. Additionally, Mr Rothman holds a Certificate of Achievement from Michelin North America, Inc.
for completion of the Tire and Vehicle Dynamics Course presented by Hodges Transportation, Inc. at the Nevada Automotive Test Center. He has also participated in dynamic vehicular stability testing at the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty, Ohio and in tire and wheel training and testing at Standards Testing Laboratories in Massilon, Ohio.
