I built this law practice on the firm foundations of uncompromising advocacy and unwavering dedication to our clients. For years I have been representing individuals, families and small businesses in complex immigration law matters, sensitive family matters, frustrating landlord-tenant disputes and criminal matters with potentially severe consequences (particularly for the specialized needs of immigrants) throughout Southern Florida, New York and Connecticut.
I defend immigrants against deportation proceedings, help them obtain their green cards and become U.S. citizens. I counsel families through the sometimes difficult and emotion-filled process of dissolving a marriage and attending to child custody issues. I assist in resolving issues between owners and renters of residential property.
I passionately defend clients against criminal prosecution by the State of Florida, especially where criminal matters may have dire consequences on an individual’s immigration situation. As a Brooklyn native, I earned my BA from the State University of New York, Purchase and my Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, where I served as Articles Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of International Law.
During my law-school days, I clerked for the Honorable Adlai S. Hardin Jr., at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. I worked as a summer associate at Pekin & Pekin, an international law firm in Istanbul (where I spent a day serving as tour guide and translator to the Honorable Justice Sandra Day O’Connor through Istanbul’s centuries-old Sultanahmet district, the famed Grand Bazaar and Hagia Sofia Museum).
I served as a student assistant district attorney for the Brooklyn DA’s office. Then, realizing I was more in tune with the other team, I first interned then began working as a law clerk for Attorney Gerald L. Shargel, famed attorney to the now deceased ‘Teflon Don’, John Gotti, and other interesting New Yorker types.
When I am not defending my clients in nerve-wracking legal matters, I try to relax by teaching yoga at the Cozy Yogi warm power yoga studio here in Lake Worth Florida. Yoga helps me put into practice the eastern philosophies and teachings within Buddhism, Taoism, Zen and the Vedas that I studied so many years ago at SUNY Purchase and at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
As a teacher of mine once put it, “The evolution of physical fitness is mental fitness.” And a balanced mind is essential to the practice of law, the practice of yoga and the paths we choose throughout life. I also enjoy learning about history, religions of the world, astronomy, biology, neuroscience, astro and quantum physics, and playing the didgeridoo.
